Crossing Thresholds: Navigating Your Uncharted Territory

A retreat for leaning gracefully into life's transitions

led by Barrie Barton and Laura Collins

Come join us in an exploration of moving through change, collectively and individually. Weaving guided reflection and expressive arts into the day, your seasoned leaders will offer new forms of navigation through the often choppy waters of transition. Together we will create a safe environment, allowing you to uncover your inner intelligence and tap into your body’s wisdom. Are you ready to explore and envision new possibilities?

You will leave the workshop with:

• concrete tools for calming the choppy waters

• a connection to your own compass and

• resources for further reflection and clarity

When? 6:30-8:30, Friday, March 16 and 9:30-3:30, Saturday, March 17

Where? Jubilee! Community, 46 Wall St., downtown Asheville, NC.

This retreat is for you if you have recently crossed a threshold or anticipate a coming change. Maybe you are moving into or out of a job, relationship, or home. Perhaps you’re experiencing a shift in your health or self-understanding. Only 25 participants will be accepted so that we can gather an intimate and safe community.

How do I register?

Registration and additional information, including overnight accommodations, are available by emailing either leader: barbarton@charter.net or laura@livingrituals.com. Full refund (less $20.00 fee) if you cancel 10 or more days prior to the event. No refund otherwise.

Who are your leaders?)

Barrie Barton brings a wide-open, liberating and ineffable skill for creative expression to her role as a community choreographer, dance educator and artistic director. Ms. Barton serves as artistic director of Community Choreography Project, inviting participants to artful play, exploration and expression through movement, stories, creative writing and choreography. Barrie says, “In order to ‘home to ourselves,’ we must learn how to fully inhabit our bodies.” Barrie believes that movement is a vital celebration of life. It is a way to proclaim your own existence and relish in the joy of being alive.

Laura Collins brings empathy and humor to her work of creating community. With backgrounds in theology, contemplative spirituality, counseling and creative writing, Ms. Collins joyfully weaves poetry and play into sharing and silence. She served congregations for 16 years and has worked in hospice, with men coming out of prison and with at-risk youth. She now works as a retreat leader and ritual artist through Living Rituals and Sacred Separations, as a writer and editor through The Write Idea, and at Mission Hospitals as a Family Support Liaison helping families in difficult situations.
